第一次中東戰爭 (英文：1948 Palestine war、阿拉伯文：النَكْبَة‎，直譯 「大災難」、希伯來文：מלחמת העצמאות‎，直譯 「獨立戰爭」[11])，又可以叫做1948年巴勒斯坦戰爭，係一次由1947年到1949年期間，以色列同阿拉伯聯盟之間打嘅仗。

喺打緊仗期間，兩邊都有同對方做去人性化嘅行為，包括屠殺同強制遷徙等等嘅暴力。其中阿拉伯人承受嘅，就成為咗巴勒斯坦人大逃亡，估計有大約70萬人成為咗難民[12]。

喺政治方面，猶太社群成功令以色列復國，不過阿拉伯社群未能夠同巴勒斯坦人立國。雖然大家都會喺打完仗之後簽1949年停火協議，不過仍然解決唔到咁嚴重嘅矛盾，造成咗將會搞幾十年都搞唔掂嘅以巴衝突，而呢場仗亦都只係流流長嘅中東戰爭之中嘅第一場。

喺1947年11月29號，聯合國大會通過咗181號決議，分割英屬巴勒斯坦做猶太國同阿拉伯國。猶太方面就接受咗呢個方案做「最低要求」[13]，不過阿拉伯方面就完全拒絕分割，要求成笪地落入佢哋自己嘅控制度[14]。

喺冇耐之後，兩邊就開始打；因為當時成笪地仍然係屬於英屬巴勒斯坦，所以就屬於內戰，而英國亦都會間唔中插下手，嚟嘗試㩒停是但一邊嘅暴力[15][16]。喺1948年3月開始，猶太軍隊開始由之前嘅防守改做進攻，為成立以色列國鋪路[17]。

到1948年5月14號，英屬巴勒斯坦嘅時限到咗，而猶太組織亦喺同一日讀出《以色列獨立宣言》，以色列正式立國。喺之後嗰日，阿拉伯聯盟參戰，目標係剷走呢個新嘅國家，回復返阿拉伯人嘅民族自決權同埋對呢笪地嘅管治[18]。兩邊曾經喺6月尾有過一段停火，不過大家其實都冇打算收工，只係當抖下同埋用嚟重組自己啲軍隊[19]。

喺停火完咗之後，大家就即刻又打過：埃及由西南面、約旦同伊拉克喺東面、而黎巴嫩同敘利亞就攻北面，嘗試經過包圍以色列嚟打贏佢。不過，以色列軍隊多得嚟自美國同蘇聯兩邊嘅軍事援助[20]，唔單只冇輸到，仲打返轉頭，最終攞埋巴勒斯坦地區78%嘅地[21]。

喺之後嘅1949年停火協議，以色列可以保住贏咗嘅地，埃及控制咗加沙走廊，而約旦就控制咗西岸地區，激烈嘅戰鬥終於告一段落。
